Public File

Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK's radio regulator. This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.

 

1. News Bulletin Schedule
RAM FM broadcasts news bulletins on the half-hour between 0600 and 0900, hourly from 0900 and 1600 on weekdays, and half hourly from 1700 to 1900 weekdays. These bulletins contain a mixture of local, national and world stories, along with sport, weather and entertainment news.

At the weekend, bulletins containing local, national and world news are broadcast on RAM FM between 0800 and 1200 on Saturdays, and 0800 and 1200 on Sundays.

4. The programme schedule

5. The average number of hours of automated programming within weekday daytimes and within daytimes on Saturdays and Sundays.
There is one hour of automated programming each day, Monday to Friday, and none at weekends.

6. The amount of local programming per day produced by the station
All of RAM FM's output is produced and presented from within the Derby/Nottingham licence area, with the exception of "The Big Top 40 Show" (Sunday 1600-1900), which comes from Global's tudios at Leicester Square in London. Programmes produced specifically for the RAM FM area are at the following times, Weekdays 0600-1000, and 1300-1900, and Weekends 0800-1200.

7. Ofcom Localness Guidelines and how to complain to Ofcom
Ofcom, the government regulator with responsibilities for local radio, has produced localness guidelines that this station adheres to. These guidelines can be read by following the link at the bottom of the page.
In addition all local radio stations have written 'formats' that they must follow at all times. You can read ours by clicking on the link below. If you have a complaint to make about this station, in the first instance you should contact the programme controller at the address below. If you are unhappy with the response you have received, you can complain directly to the regulator, Ofcom. 9. Events/charities support or coverage
RAM FM offers publicity to a wide range of local organisations and charities by providing RAM FM Action, daily public service announcements broadcast in our evening programming.

RAM FM also supports Cancer Research UK's Race For Life in Derby.

This year, RAM FM raised over £6,300 for Derby Kids Camp charity

The RAM FM Thunders (street marketing team) are also regularly visiting charity events by invitation and giving them publicity through radio links.

10. Recent programme and/or news highlights

In April 2009, RAM FM was the media partner for the Derby 10K Run

In May 2009, RAM FM hosted the two Cancer Research UK Race For Life events at Daley Park in Derby. The races, which was publicised on RAM FM , were fully subscribed and saw 7,000 women run a 5km course. RAM FM presenters compered the event.

In September 2009, RAM FM hosted the Run10k, raising money for Cancer Research UK at Kedleston Park in Derbyshire, nearly 1000 runners took part, a record number for the event. 

In October 2009, RAM FM set up a studio in the local shopping centre for three days, to draw attention to to the charity appeal for Derby Kids Camp, 29 hours of live programming came from there over 3 days, and RAM FM's Breakfast Show presenters, Dino & Pete lived there for the entire duration

11. Any other issues or areas of interest likely to impact on localness
Each year RAM FM compere's and gives on air publicity to the following events:

· Derby City bonfire and fireworks
· Derby City Christmas Lights switch on
· Darley Park Concert Weekend

RAM FM is sponsoring the production of "Cinderella" at the Derby Assembly Rooms, running in December 2009 and January 2010
